Minister for Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, reaffirmed the government’s strict stance against graft on Saturday, declaring that corruption will not be tolerated now or in the future.
The Minister made these remarks while speaking to journalists following a meeting with district officials at the Thakurgaon Deputy Commissioner’s office. Addressing recent media reports regarding the alleged corruption of former advisors, Fakhrul emphasized a forward-looking approach.
"I personally believe we should not dwell on these issues but focus on the future," he said. "Our priority must be moving the country forward, strengthening democratic institutions, and building a prosperous economy."
Regarding legal accountability, the Minister noted that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) would perform its duties independently. "The ACC will take action according to its mandate. However, our administration remains firm on its policy of zero tolerance for corruption," he added.
During the session, the Minister urged government officials to work with renewed dedication and coordination to accelerate development across the district.
