


The Bangladesh Election Commission (EC) commenced another day of its ongoing dialogue with political parties on Wednesday morning, as part of preparations for the next general election scheduled for February 2026.
The discussions began at 10:40 AM at the Nirbachan Bhaban in the city, chaired by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin. The EC is currently holding these dialogues to gather opinions and suggestions from political stakeholders to ensure a free, fair, and acceptable electoral process.
Morning Session involved seven invited political parties, including major figures and emerging groups. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islam: Represented by its Secretary General, Mia Golam Parwar. National Citizen Party (NCP): Represented by its Chief Coordinator, Nasiruddin Patwary. Other Invited Parties: Ganosamhati Andolan, Nationalist Democratic Movement-NDM, Bangladesh Labour Party, Bangladesh Minority Janata Party-BMJP, and Insaniat Biplab Bangladesh.
The EC is scheduled to hold a second round of discussions in the afternoon with six additional political parties, notably the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), alongside: Bangladesh Jatiya Party-BJP (Andaleev), Gonaodhikar Parishad, Nagorik Oikya, Bangladesh Republican Party-BRP, Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal-Basad Marxist.
The dialogues are a critical step in the EC's preparatory phase, which includes finalizing amendments to the Representation of the People Order (RPO) and ensuring all parties adhere to the electoral code of conduct for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
