Stormy Weather Threat as 3 Signal Raised at Bangladesh Sea Ports

A low-pressure system has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas, prompting Bangladesh’s Meteorological Department to issue a warning for possible gusty winds.

The country’s four seaports-Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra-have been advised to keep the local warning signal No. 3 hoisted.

According to a weather warning signed by meteorologist Md Shahinul Islam on Sunday, the low-pressure system could cause strong winds over the sea ports, the northern Bay of Bengal and nearby coastal areas of Bangladesh.

Fishing boats and trawlers operating in the northern Bay of Bengal have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.

Authorities have urged vessels and coastal communities to remain alert as weather conditions could deteriorate under the influence of the low-pressure system.
