Prime Minister Visits for Fisheries Week 2026 in Kishoreganj

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman left Dhaka by road on Sunday morning for Kishoreganj to attend several programmes including the formal launch of National Fisheries Week 2026. He left his Gulshan residence at 9:15am, said Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.

This marks his first visit to Kishoreganj since taking office following BNP's majority win in the 13th parliamentary election.

According to the schedule, the prime minister released fish fry into the Brahmaputra River and greeted locals at Mirzapur Chairman Bari Ghat in Pakundia at 11:30am. He then visited the Katiadi Carp Hatchery Complex around 12:30pm.

Later, he inaugurated National Fisheries Week at the mini stadium of George Institution in Achmita and distributed National Fisheries Awards around 1pm.

At 2:30pm, the prime minister launched a tree-planting programme at the historic Sholakia Eidgah ground, one of the country's largest Eid prayer venues.

He had lunch at the Circuit House at 3:15pm before attending a programme at Old Kishoreganj Stadium at 4pm where he distributed Family Cards and provided honoraria to imams, muezzins, priests, monks, pastors and other religious figures.

Tarique Rahman was scheduled to return to Dhaka in the evening after completing all programmes in Kishoreganj.
