The implementation of a new pay scale for government officials and employees will take place within the current year, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister ABM Abdus Sattar confirmed during a press briefing at the Secretariat on Sunday (August 16).
The Principal Secretary assured that the framework for the new pay scale is fully prepared, and the official announcement from the government will follow shortly.
Addressing the economic pressure on the government's budget resulting from the new pay scale, the Principal Secretary explained that the administration plans to offset the financial strain through new employment creation initiatives.
He acknowledged that the pay scale implementation might trigger temporary market inflation, noting it as a temporary reality that the government will counter through alternative policy measures and targeted interventions.
The Principal Secretary identified the ongoing power and energy crisis as a significant challenge, attributing the situation to long-term mismanagement and negligence by the previous administration.
He assured the public that a series of effective measures initiated by the current government will yield a sustainable solution to the country's energy issues in the shortest possible time.
