Tarique Rahman’s Leadership Will Keep Bangladesh Safe: Kaysar Ahmed

Sunamganj-3 (Jagannathpur-Shantiganj) MP Mohammad Kaysar Ahmed has said Bangladesh will remain safe under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, while the government expects significant development across various sectors within the next two to three years.

He made the remarks on Sunday, August 16, 2026, while speaking as the chief guest at a medicine handover ceremony at the Dargapasha Mother and Child Welfare Centre in Shantiganj.

The event was organized to distribute essential medicines free of charge to low-income residents. The medicines, costing Tk 130,000, were purchased from the 2025–26 fiscal year's development assistance fund of Dargapasha Union Parishad.

Kaysar said the government had already prepared development plans and begun implementing them. He also said the government had allocated its largest share of the budget to the health sector, arguing that improving people's health was essential to achieving broader development.

He said the government plans to upgrade every upazila hospital from 50 beds to 100 beds and convert union health complexes into 10-bed hospitals.

The MP said shortages of medicines often prevent poor and vulnerable people from receiving treatment. He praised the union parishad's initiative to provide medicines free of charge and said similar public welfare programmes should continue.

The meeting was chaired by Dargapasha Union Parishad Chairman Md. Chhufi Mia. Shantiganj Upazila BNP committee member-secretary Rawshan Khan Sagar also spoke.

Among those present were Shantiganj Upazila Family Planning Officer Md. Kamal Uddin, Shantiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Oli Ullah, Jagannathpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shafiqul Islam, Dargapasha Union Parishad Administrative Officer Md. Toffazzal Hossain, and several union parishad members and officials.

Later, Kaysar Ahmed visited a training workshop on electrical house wiring implemented by Dargapasha Union Parishad.
