High-level negotiations between Iran and the United States, titled the 'Islamabad Talks,' concluded Sunday without an agreement. Following the deadlock, both delegations have departed the Pakistani capital.
The Iranian delegation, which included Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, left shortly after the discussions collapsed. Iran’s Mehr News Agency confirmed their departure.
The talks, which spanned Saturday afternoon through Sunday, involved over 21 hours of intense deliberation. However, US Vice President JD Vance announced that no breakthrough was achieved, noting that Iran rejected the US proposals.
"We have discussed several important issues over the last 21 hours," Vance stated during a press conference before his departure. "While we clearly defined our boundaries and areas of compromise, the Iranian delegation did not accept our conditions."
With no consensus reached, both sides have exited Islamabad, leaving the future of the diplomatic initiative uncertain.
