British Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese have called for the current ceasefire involving the US and Iran to be extended to Lebanon, where Israeli military operations continue.
Minister Cooper emphasized that Lebanon must be included in the regional truce to prevent further casualties. She also stressed the importance of maintaining free and open shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, insisting it remain toll-free for international vessels.
In Australia, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese echoed these sentiments, stating his government "strongly believes" the ceasefire should apply to Lebanon. Speaking from Brisbane, Albanese described the existing truce as an "important step forward" but cautioned that it remains a "fragile peace."
"Many Australians are concerned about what is happening in Lebanon," Albanese said. "It has implications not only for that country but for the whole world." He urged all parties to work toward turning the current pause into a permanent agreement.
