After a long wait, the people of the country have got the opportunity to exercise their voting rights and the victory of BNP through this free and fair election is now just a matter of time, said Mahdi Amin, spokesperson of the party's National Parliament Election Steering Committee.
He expressed this optimism at a special press conference organized at the party's election steering committee office in Gulshan, the capital, on Thursday (February 12) afternoon.
BNP Chairman's Advisor Mahdi Amin said that the way voters are coming to the center and establishing their rights, the victory of the paddy is going to be assured through an acceptable election. He believes that this spontaneous participation of the common people is a reflection of the long-standing democratic aspirations.
At the press conference, Mahdi Amin alleged that the opposing political parties, fearing defeat, have been unleashing unwanted and violent incidents in different parts of the country since Wednesday night. According to him, these planned incidents are a clear violation of the electoral code of conduct and pose an extreme threat to the democratic process.
He also mentioned that incidents of electoral irregularities and rigging have already come to light in several areas of the country, including Hatia in Noakhali and Chauddagram in Comilla. He told the media that serious allegations have been received, such as the expulsion of BNP agents from the centers, especially in the Hatia parliamentary constituency.
Highlighting the picture of violence, Mahdi Amin also said that in many places, their opponent parties are trying to create terror by carrying out planned attacks. BNP has already drawn the attention of the concerned authorities regarding this unstable situation and demanded immediate redress.
According to Mahdi Amin, the opponent parties are now relying on muscle power and violence after losing public support in the polling stations. However, he called on the administration to quickly suppress this violence and ensure the safety of voters.
The top BNP leader believes that such obstacles are a big challenge in fulfilling the government's promise of fair elections. Nevertheless, he instructed the party's leaders and activists to guard the polling stations patiently and not leave the field until the end.
At the end of the press conference, Mahdi Amin reiterated that they have full faith in the verdict of the people and no evil force will be able to stop this winning streak. He expressed hope that at the end of the day, a transparent result will be presented to the nation.
