


Voting for the 13th National Parliament election has begun across the country. Voting began simultaneously in 237 centers of Jhalokati district at 7:30 am. Voters were waiting in line at each center even before the voting began.
There are a total of two parliamentary constituencies in Jhalokati district, which consists of 4 upazilas. The total number of voters in these two constituencies is 5 lakh 93 thousand 828.
18 candidates are contesting, including 10 in Jhalokati-1 constituency and 8 in Jhalokati-2 constituency.
Soon after 7 am, candidates from various political parties and independent candidates cast their votes at separate centers in Jhalokati, Nalchiti, Rajapur and Kathalia upazilas. During this time, the candidates exchanged greetings with the voters present.
Law enforcement officers have been on a tighter alert since the night before, following isolated incidents involving BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami activists in two constituencies in the district.
In the second half of the day, many voters expressed fears of trouble in the central areas and said they would cast their votes early and go home. Since morning, the presence of female voters was noticeable in most of the centers compared to male voters.
