The dengue situation in Jhalokati is deteriorating, with new cases reported daily. In response, the Department of Health has identified seven areas within the district town as high-risk zones.
The designated high-risk areas are Katpatti, Banda Ghat, Banshpatti, Kalabagan, Station Road, City Park, and Fakir Bari. Health officials have urged local authorities to immediately intensify mosquito extermination drives and boost public awareness campaigns in these neighborhoods.
Currently, 25 dengue patients are hospitalized across the district: 12 at Jhalokati Sadar Hospital, eight at Nalchiti Upazila Health Complex, three at Rajapur Upazila Health Complex, and two at Kathalia Upazila Health Complex. The Department of Health noted that the current hospitalization count is nearly double compared to the same period last year.
Dr. Masum Iftekhar, Superintendent of Jhalokati Sadar Hospital, urged residents to take immediate precautions. "We strongly advise anyone with a fever to get tested for dengue immediately," he said. "Please keep your homes and surroundings clean, clear any stagnant water, and actively prevent mosquito breeding to protect your community."
