Mohammad Nurul Islam Nayan, the BNP-nominated candidate for Bhola-4 and General Secretary of Central Jubo Dal, has lashed out at political rivals, accusing them of opposing Bangladesh's independence and supporting fascism.
Speaking at a large election rally at Char Fashion Government T. Barrett Secondary School on Monday afternoon, Nayan claimed that his opponents have historically chosen "slavery" over freedom.
Nayan targeted his rivals for their role during the 1971 Liberation War and their recent political stance. He alleged that his rivals collaborated with the Pakistani army in 1971, betraying freedom fighters and committing atrocities against women.
He accused the same forces of siding with "fascist" elements over the last 16 years instead of joining the movement to restore democracy led by BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
Addressing local grievances, Nayan shared a vision for the region’s future. He stated that after discussions with Tarique Rahman, the BNP has committed to the following projects if they win the February 12 election: Establishing a dedicated Medical College in Char Fashion. Constructing the long-awaited Bhola-Barisal Bridge. Implementing effective measures to stop severe river erosion in the area.
The rally was also addressed by BNP Central Organizing Secretary Advocate Bilkis Jahan Shirin and other senior leaders, who urged voters to support the "Sheaf of Paddy" symbol.
