Senior officials on Monday inspected a state-of-the-art Operations Command and Control Room at the Chattogram District Superintendent of Police office, designed to monitor real-time security for the upcoming Feb. 12 national election.
Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Ziauddin and Range DIG Md. Ahsan Habib Palash reviewed the digital infrastructure, which includes body-worn camera workstations, live GPS location tracking, and digital operational maps.
The command center will oversee 119 mobile teams and 30 "striking parties" (rapid response units) deployed across the district. Real-time video from 469 body-worn cameras used by field officers will be streamed directly to the hub, allowing commanders to issue immediate instructions during emergencies.
Security officials have mapped all 1,358 polling stations across Chattogram’s 13 parliamentary constituencies, categorizing them by risk level (red, yellow, and green). The system provides officers with instant access to the location, risk type, and distance of each station from the nearest police base.
"We are using every available technology to ensure a free and fair environment," said Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Russell. "This integrated system allows us to coordinate with the Army, RAB, BGB, and Coast Guard instantly if a situation arises."
