Chief Advisor Congratulates Tarique Rahman on BNP’s Landslide Victory

Professor Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor to the Interim Government, has sent a message of congratulations and best wishes to the Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Tarique Rahman for winning the 13th parliamentary election with a huge majority.

In his congratulatory message to Mr. Tarique Rahman, the Chief Advisor said, "I sincerely congratulate and wish you well for winning the 13th parliamentary election under your leadership. This clear verdict of the people in the historic process of democratic transition will be a very important milestone in the country's constitutional and democratic continuity and institutional stability."

He said, "I firmly believe that in fulfilling the important responsibility of running the state, you will lead the country forward on a stable, inclusive and development-oriented path in the light of your wisdom, democratic values ​​and public welfare-oriented spirit." I recall the ideals and statesmanship of your father President Ziaur Rahman and the uncompromising leadership and commitment to democracy of your mother, former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. I sincerely hope that their ideals and great deeds will illuminate your path in the future.

The Chief Advisor said, Bangladesh is today standing on the threshold of a new opportunity in the global arena. Economic transformation, technological progress, climate resilience, human resource development and active participation in regional and international diplomacy—the application of well-coordinated talent, mindfulness and wisdom is essential in these areas. I hope that under your leadership, national unity will be strengthened and democratic values, rule of law and accountable governance will be further strengthened.

Professor Yunus said, at the same time, I sincerely thank you for your valuable cooperation and constructive role during the interim government's tenure. Your positive stance in maintaining a democratic environment, showing tolerance and respecting the constitutional process in this sensitive time of change has played an important role in the national interest.

‘Finally, I wish all your initiatives for the welfare of the people of the country, establishing justice and building a prosperous Bangladesh will be successful. May Allah Almighty grant you wisdom, patience and determination in serving the country and the nation,’ said the Chief Advisor.
