


Maulana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) in Tangail celebrated World Environment Day on Monday (July 6) with a series of events focused on environmental conservation.
Organized by the Environmental Science and Resource Management (ESRM) Department, the day-long program was themed ‘Climate Change: Today’s Action, Tomorrow’s Security.’ Activities included a campus rally, a tree plantation drive, educational seminars, and student competitions.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Shahidul Islam inaugurated the events in the morning. Following a colorful campus-wide rally and the tree plantation program, the ESRM department hosted an environmental seminar where the Vice-Chancellor served as the chief guest.
ESRM Department Chairman Professor Dr. ASM Saifullah presided over the seminar, while Professor Dr. Mahmuda Binte Latif, convener of the celebration committee, delivered the welcome address. Special guests included Professor Dr. Md. Abu Zubair, Dean of the Faculty of Biology; Dr. Abu Naser Mohsin Hossain, Divisional Forest Officer of Tangail; and Md. Bellal Hossain, Regional Deputy General Manager of Pubali Bank.
Faculty, students, and staff from across the university participated in the celebrations, which concluded with a prize distribution ceremony for the student competitions. Organizers expressed hope that the initiative will raise vital awareness about conservation and reinforce the university's commitment to building a sustainable future.
