


A week-long tree planting campaign and fair began in Pabna on Thursday (July 2), aiming to plant and distribute 10,000 saplings across four unions in Bera upazila.
Themed "Let's plant trees together, decorate the country with greenery," the initiative was organized by the Dayal Nagar Baharunnesa Public Library in collaboration with the BK Foundation.
The inaugural event took place at the Skills Academy BD premises under the Aminpur police station. The program was officially launched via a video message by MA Baten Khan, social worker and BK Foundation Chairman, alongside Abu Sayem, Chairman of the Dayal Nagar Baharunnesa Public Library.
Attendees included Mizanur Rahman from the Bera Upazila Department of Agriculture Extension; PKSF Safe Food Specialist Mizanur Rahman; Engineer Tutul; Prothom Alo Bondhushava Joint Convener Nannu Islam; as well as local headmasters, teachers, students, and guardians.
Organizers will plant fruit, timber, and medicinal saplings along local roads and at educational institutions. The campaign aligns with the government's broader climate change and national tree-planting initiatives and will officially conclude on Tuesday, July 7.
