


A battery-powered rickshaw driver was critically injured in a broad daylight machete attack by a hijacker in Boalkhali, Chittagong. The attacker fled with the victim's vehicle.
The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday (June 4) near Kadhurkhil Jalil Ambia College.
The victim, 50-year-old Abdul Nabi, is a resident of East Gomdandi Munshi Para in Ward No. 3, and the son of the late Abdur Chabur.
According to Nabi, a passenger hired his rickshaw from the upazila headquarters to travel to Kadhurkhil Lalar Dighi. As they passed a local shop, the passenger suddenly struck him from behind with a sharp weapon, leaving him severely wounded before escaping with the rickshaw.
Locals found Nabi bleeding heavily on the road and rushed him to the Boalkhali Upazila Health Complex.
Dr. Ayesha, the attending emergency department physician, stated that Nabi was brought in around 2:00 p.m. with sharp weapon injuries across his body. After receiving first aid, he was transferred to Chittagong Medical College (CMC) Hospital for advanced treatment.
Boalkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahfuzur Rahman confirmed that police have visited the crime scene and launched an investigation to recover the vehicle and apprehend the attacker.
