Intern doctors at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) staged a protest and formed a human chain on Thursday morning, demanding the immediate withdrawal of a recent notice issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The demonstration took place at the hospital's main gate at 11:30 a.m. Following the protest, the Intern Doctors Association (2025-26) submitted a memorandum outlining a six-point list of demands to the hospital director.
Protesters described the health ministry's notice as unreasonable and detrimental to doctors' interests. They have issued an ultimatum, giving authorities until Friday night to take effective steps to resolve the issue.
Shakib Hossain, president of the association, warned that if their demands are not met within the timeframe, tougher actions will begin on Saturday. He stated these measures could include an indefinite work stoppage and an academic shutdown, which would be coordinated with intern doctors at medical colleges across the country.
