


Police have arrested listed criminal and alleged drug dealer Md. Karim, also known as Abdul Karim and “Dial Karim” (43), during a special operation in Chittagong city’s Hazari Goli area under Kotwali Police Station. A locally made firearm was recovered during the raid.
Kotwali Police Station confirmed the arrest on Tuesday (May 12). Karim is the son of late Jahangir Prakash Shahjahan of Hazari Goli.
According to police, an operation team conducted the raid in Hazari Goli early Tuesday and arrested Karim, who had been absconding in multiple cases. He was later taken to the police station.
Police said Karim is accused in 23 cases, including charges related to weapons, robbery, murder, narcotics, the Special Powers Act and the Explosives Act. At least 21 of the cases were filed between 2011 and 2026 under narcotics and Special Powers Act provisions.
Authorities also said he had been absconding in recent cases filed in 2024 under the Special Powers Act and Explosives Act.
Police have sent the accused to court in connection with the 2024 Special Powers Act and Explosives Act cases, as well as a 2026 robbery preparation case.
