To mark World Environment Day, the "Sam Bond-CR Tenke 2026" 10-kilometer race will take place in Chittagong this Friday. Starting at 5:45 a.m. from the city's CRB Sirishtala, the early-morning event will feature 1,100 runners from Bangladesh and abroad.
The organizing group, Chattala Runners, shared event details during a recent press conference. Co-founder Mujibur Rahman Moni announced that alongside local athletes, international participants are traveling from 12 countries, including Australia, the United States, Saudi Arabia, India, China, and Japan.
Chattala Runners Advisor Pradeep Kumar Deb emphasized the event's broader public health goals. "This initiative is not just about competition, but also about building a culture of healthy lifestyle and regular exercise," Deb said. "Our aim is to increase health awareness among the youth and create an environment for international-standard running competitions."
Samuda Spec-Chem Limited's "Sam Bond" is the title sponsor for this year's race. Bangladesh Railway and the Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) are providing logistical and security support.
