


Md. Wasim Jabbar has been appointed as the new Treasurer of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), effective June 3, 2026. He succeeds Khandaker Md. Iftekhar Haider.
A former Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) administration cadre officer, Jabbar brings over 32 years of experience in public administration, financial management, government procurement, and policy implementation.Before joining IUB, he served as the Deputy Team Leader for a public procurement digitization project at the International Labour Organization's training center (ILO-ITCILO) in Turin, Italy.His distinguished career in government includes roles as Director General (Additional Secretary) of the Bangladesh Petroleum Institute (BPI), Director of Administration and Finance at the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), Director of Training and Education at the Bangladesh Institute of Administration and Management (BIAM), and Chief Revenue Officer for the Chattogram City Corporation.
Jabbar holds a Master’s in Procurement and Supply Management from BRAC University, an Executive MBA in Human Resource Management from the University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC), and both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Marketing from Dhaka University.
He also holds advanced professional diplomas from the UK-based Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS).In addition to his administrative career, he has been a part-time lecturer at BRAC University since 2017 and serves as a National Trainer on Public Procurement for the Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority (BPPA). He is a member of CIPS UK and a life member of the Institute of Management Consultants Bangladesh.
