


A joint task force arrested six suspected drug dealers and recovered a massive cache of narcotics during an overnight raid in Goalimandra, Louhajang Upazila, on Thursday (June 4).
Acting on an intelligence tip-off, an 80-member team comprising the local administration, Police, Bangladesh Army, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) conducted the operation from midnight until morning.
During the sweep, authorities seized 210 Yaba pills, eight kilograms of marijuana, five grams of heroin, and Tk 26,000 in suspected drug money. While six individuals were taken into custody, authorities identified a seventh suspect who remains at large.
Following the arrests, four mobile courts were immediately convened to penalize offenders under the Narcotics Control Act of 2018. Authorities are also in the process of filing two regular criminal cases against the primary suspects.
The coordinated crackdown was directed by the Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner and led on the ground by Additional District Magistrate Md. Rezaul Karim. The task force included high-ranking officials from multiple agencies, including Louhajang UNO Farzana Bobby Mitu, DNC Deputy Director Md. Lutfar Rahman, and commanding officers from RAB-10 and the Bangladesh Army.
The Munshiganj district administration stated that similar zero-tolerance joint operations will continue across the region to root out illegal drug networks.
