The true spirit of Eid lies in sharing its joy with the underprivileged. While Eid-ul-Adha centers on the glory of sacrifice, many families in our society cannot afford to perform Qurbani or purchase meat. Recognizing this moral responsibility, US-expatriate Shaila Azim, founder of the social organization Nahian Welfare Foundation, has stepped forward to support the helpless.
Despite living in the United States, Shaila Azim continues to spearhead humanitarian efforts across Bangladesh. As part of a nationwide initiative by the foundation this Eid-ul-Adha, sacrificial meat was distributed to approximately 250 needy and helpless individuals in the Ghoshal area of Paikgachha Upazila, Khulna, on Friday afternoon, May 29.
The distribution ceremony was presided over by the foundation’s Upazila Coordinator, Fatema Tuz Zohra Jyoti. Prominent local figures attended the event, including Paikgachha Press Club Vice President Md. Abdul Aziz, Reporters Unit General Secretary Asadul Islam, Amirul Islam, Nazifa Rahman, and Abul Hossain Gazi.
"It is our social duty to stand by the poor," said Fatema Tuz Zohra Jyoti. "For the past five years, the Nahian Welfare Foundation has been working under Shaila Azim’s leadership to support child education, women's empowerment, and poverty alleviation."
Upon receiving the meat, the local beneficiaries expressed their deep gratitude. Community members voiced their hope that the Nahian Welfare Foundation will sustain its impactful humanitarian and social initiatives in the future.
