Sadat Zaman Bidhan, a brilliant final-year student and prominent athlete at Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU), passed away in his sleep at his family residence on Monday morning (May 25). He was 25.

His sudden and untimely demise has left his family, classmates, teachers, and the entire university community in deep shock and mourning.

According to family members, Bidhan—a student of the 9th batch (2019–20 session) under the Faculty of Nutrition and Food Science (NFS)—had returned home from Dhaka on Sunday. He spent a cheerful evening catching up with his family before going to bed around midnight.

The tragedy came to light the next morning when he failed to wake up. At around 9:00 AM, after repeated knocks went unanswered, anxious family members broke open his bedroom door and discovered him unresponsive. It was later confirmed that he had passed away during the night.

"He came back from Dhaka on Sunday and was so happy to spend time with all of us before going to bed," his grieving father said. "When he didn't respond in the morning, we broke the door down only to find that he was already gone."

On campus, Bidhan was widely admired not just for his academic merit, but also for his vibrant presence in university life. He was a celebrated sportsman who represented PSTU in inter-university cricket, football, and badminton tournaments. He also served as a senior member of the Pabna Student Welfare Association, actively mentoring younger peers.

"Bidhan was incredibly talented, humble, and friendly," said his classmate Javid Rahman Ankon. "Losing him so suddenly is an unbearable pain for all of us."

Raufun Islam Rafi, a junior student from the Faculty of Agriculture, recalled his warm personality: "He always greeted us with a smile. From our very first days on campus, his support and affection toward juniors were unforgettable. We pray that the Almighty grants him eternal peace."

The PSTU administration, along with various student, social, and cultural organizations on campus, issued official statements expressing deep condolences to the bereaved family.
