Spain has secured its place in the FIFA World Cup final with a decisive 2-0 victory over tournament favorites France at Dallas Stadium.
Relying on a suffocating defense and precise ball control Spain completely stifled a dangerous French attack led by Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé. The breakthrough came in the 22nd minute when Mikel Oyarzabal confidently converted a penalty kick. Pedro Porro sealed the victory with a second goal in the 58th minute.
France’s normally fluid offense struggled to find its rhythm against Spain’s relentless pressure. Before Semifinal the French squad had not trailed at any point in the tournament. In contrast, Spain’s highly organized defense has conceded only one goal throughout the entire World Cup.
Spain now advances to Sunday’s championship match, aiming for its second World Cup title following its historic 2010 triumph over the Netherlands. They will face the winner of Wednesday’s second semifinal in Atlanta which features Argentina against England.
