Local religious leaders and residents of Daganbhuiya organized a protest march and rally on Tuesday (May 19) to condemn the alleged oppression of Muslims in West Bengal and other parts of India.
Organized by the local Ulama-e-Keram and Tawheed Janata, the procession began after Asr prayers. After marching through the main roads of the Daganbhuiya municipality, the crowd gathered for a rally at the local Zero Point.
Presiding over the gathering, Allama Mufti Yusuf Kazhmi, Muhtamim of Daganbhuiya Ashraful Uloom Madrasa, strongly condemned recent post-election violence in neighboring India.
"We demand an immediate end to the targeted attacks on Muslims, the demolition of mosques, and the restrictions placed on religious practices, including Qurbani," Mufti Kazhmi stated. He urged the Indian government to ensure justice and protection for minorities, warning that the global Muslim community would unite in protest if the violence continued.
Other guest speakers criticized recent provocative statements made by West Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari. They noted that such inflammatory rhetoric threatens the historic communal harmony of the subcontinent and is deeply offensive to the people of Bangladesh.
The program was conducted by Maulana Mohiuddin Yusuf and addressed by numerous local Islamic scholars, including Maulana Saidur Rahman, Maulana Shihab Uddin, and Mufti Kamrul Hasan, who echoed the call for peace and minority rights.
