All encroached properties belonging to the Laxmipur District Council will be recovered in phases, and no illegal occupant will be spared, asserted District Council Administrator and District BNP Member Secretary Sahab Uddin Sabu.
He made this statement while briefing reporters on Saturday (April 25) afternoon, following an inspection of the council's grabbed lands and facilities in Ramganj Upazila. Laxmipur-1 (Ramganj) Member of Parliament Shahadat Hossain Selim was present during the visit.
During the inspection, Sabu ordered the immediate closure of 13 illegally constructed shops at the Zia Shopping Complex, which is located on council premises in Ramganj.
Highlighting BNP leader Tarique Rahman's election promises, Sabu stated that the Laxmipur District Council will be transformed into a model institution through comprehensive development across the district's four parliamentary constituencies.
He alleged that during the previous government's tenure, ruling party leaders and activists illegally occupied various council lands and establishments, severely depriving the institution of revenue.
"By recovering these assets, the council will boost its revenue collection. These funds will be redirected toward developing local roads and supporting religious institutions of all faiths to benefit the community," Sabu added.
The inspection team included District Council Executive Officer Ashrafun Nahar, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kazi Atiqur Rahman, Ramganj Upazila BNP President Mozammel Haque Moju, and Ramganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Firoz Uddin Chowdhury.
Senior local administration officials, along with leaders and activists from the BNP, Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, and other affiliated organizations, were also in attendance.
