


Police in Naogaon's Porsha upazila arrested two drug dealers during a special anti-narcotics operation on Friday night with seizing 500 tapentadol tablets worth Tk.1.5 lakh and a motorcycle used to transport the drugs.
The arrests were made near Dakshin Lakshmipur Jharna Government Primary School, based on a tip-off. Officer-in-Charge Ziaur Rahman said the men were caught buying and selling drugs on a paved road about 200 metres north of the school in front of a tea shop.
The arrested were identified as Delwar Hossain (33) of Baradadpur village in Chapainawabganj's Gomostapur upazila and Gurupad Karmakar (27) from the same area.
Police recovered 350 tapentadol tablets from Delwar and 150 from Gurupad. Also seized from Delwar were an old red motorcycle worth Tk.60,000 used for carrying the drugs and Tk 2,500 in cash from drug sales.
A case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act and both men were sent to jail on Saturday.
