BAJUS Rises Gold Price Again in Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has raised gold prices by Tk.2,500 per bhori with citing a rise in the price of tejabi (pure) gold in the local market.

According to a notification issued Saturday morning and the new price took effect from 10:00am. Under the revised rate of 22-carat gold now costs Tk.2,36,779 per bhori with VAT. BAJUS also announced updated prices for other categories of gold and adjusted to reflect current market conditions.

The association said the new rates will remain in effect at all jewellery shops nationwide until further notice. However, making charges will still vary depending on the design of the ornament.

BAJUS clarified that since VAT is already included in the sale price of gold and silver ornaments, shops cannot charge VAT separately from customers. Existing rules for exchanging or purchasing ornaments excluding VAT, making charges and stone value remain unchanged.
