Mirza Fakhrul Pays Tribute to Khaleda Zia on Her 82nd Birth Anniversary

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP's presidential candidate and former secretary general, said Saturday that the sacrifice and inspiration of Begum Khaleda Zia continue to guide the party, speaking at a milad and doa mahfil held at BNP's Nayapaltan office to mark her 82nd birthday.

"Today is a happy day for us. On this day, the leader was born. She was involved in the fate of Bangladesh and has repeatedly brought democracy back to Bangladesh through her leadership and struggles," Fakhrul said.

He credited Khaleda Zia's long struggle for building BNP's standing as a democratic party, saying her sacrifice continues to inspire party leaders. He vowed to build BNP into a "modern democratic party" capable of leading Bangladesh, and said the current government aims to implement her Vision 2030 and the party's 31-point outline.

Fakhrul also prayed for the souls of Khaleda Zia and her husband the independence proclaimer Ziaur Rahman seeking eternal peace for both.

The event was moderated by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. Standing Committee members Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Dr Abdul Moeen Khan also spoke. The doa was led by Maulana Abul Hossain of the Nationalist Ulema Party. Joint Secretaries General Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel and Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee were also present.
