A female farmer in Porsha, Naogaon, has sought legal intervention after her Boro paddy crops on two acres of land were allegedly destroyed using toxic pesticides.
The victim, Aleponur Begum (54), a resident of Aladipur village in Sapahar Upazila, filed a formal complaint with the Porsha Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) on February 25.
According to the complaint, Aleponur has been cultivating the land in Chakbishnupur Mouza for several years after acquiring it through inheritance. She alleged that on February 22, Hasan Ali (30), Shafiqul Islam (55), Imran (35), and Hossain (30)—all sons of the late Abdul Haque—along with several accomplices, applied poison to her fields following a series of threats.
The chemical damage has reportedly destroyed the newly planted Boro seedlings across the entire two-acre plot, resulting in an estimated financial loss of 3 lakh BDT. Aleponur discovered the devastation on the morning of February 25 and proceeded to file the complaint following consultations with family and local elders.
Porsha UNO Rakibul Islam confirmed receipt of the allegation. "We have received the written complaint. The Chairman of Nitpur Union Parishad has been instructed to investigate the matter and take necessary action through the village court," the UNO stated.
