One Arrested with Fake Currency in Chattogram

RAB-7 arrested Md. Sohel Chowdhury in Chattogram’s Bayezid Bostami for possession of fake currency from multiple countries.

The raid took place on Thursday afternoon at a flat in Jahanara Building, Ahmadiya Housing Society, under Bayezid Bostami police station. Acting on a tip-off, RAB found that fake currency was being stored there and planned for sale. Sohel Chowdhury, 40, a resident of Fatikchhari Upazila, was arrested around 3 pm.

During the operation, authorities recovered 74,500 Indian rupees (fake), 1,700 US dollars (fake) and 100 Emirati dirhams (fake).

RAB-7 Assistant Director (Media) ARM Mozaffar Hossain confirmed that the arrested individual and the counterfeit currency were handed over to the relevant police station for further legal action.
