If I am alive, people of all religions will be safe: Shama Obaid

Shama Obaid Islam Rinku, the BNP nominated candidate for Faridpur-2 (Saltha-Nagarkanda) constituency and the organizing secretary of the party's central committee, said, "I do not believe in the word minority. Hindus and Muslims, we will all live together. No untoward incident took place during Durga Puja last year. BNP leaders and activists guarded the puja pavilion day and night. If I am alive, people of all religions will be safe. They will get equal opportunities. This is the ideal of democracy and BNP."

He made these remarks as the chief guest at the election yard meeting held at Putia Bazar, Atghar Union, Saltha Upazila, Faridpur, his constituency, from afternoon to night today (January 24).

He said that if anyone from BNP is involved in extortion, rigging or tender rigging, he will be directly handed over to the police. No opportunity will be given to tarnish the party. We must say no to corruption and drugs on the soil of Saltha. I will not let the name of BNP and rice husks be defamed.

Addressing the voters of her constituency, Shama Obaid said, "I will be by your side until my death. I have tried to be by your side since the death of my father KM Obaidur Rahman. I may not have been able to do everything, but I have not harmed anyone. My father was by the side of all the mosques-madrasas and the alem community of Saltha-Nagarkanda throughout my life."

She said, "There is no mosque-madrasa where my father did not cooperate. The alem community is safe with BNP, safe with rice husks." If BNP forms the government, the imams of mosques and madrasas in charge will receive government allowances, which no government has given before."

This BNP leader said, "Development is not possible alone. We have to move forward with everyone." A beautiful playground for children will be arranged in Saltha. So that small children can play and develop their talents through sports.

Present at the courtyard meeting were former Saltha Upazila BNP president Siddiqur Rahman Talukder, former Nagarkanda Upazila BNP general secretary Saifur Rahman Mukul, former Saltha Upazila Parishad vice chairman Asad Matubbar, Upazila BNP vice president Shahin Matubbar, joint general secretary Md. Shahinur Rahman, Jubo Dal leader Tayyabur Rahman Masud, Hasan Ashraf and others.
