The Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) has imposed strict security restrictions across the city, including a total ban on drone flights, ahead of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) public meeting at the Polo Ground.
The measures, aimed at ensuring public safety and maintaining order, will be in effect on January 24 and 25.
According to a public notice signed by CMP Commissioner Hasib Aziz, the following are strictly prohibited in the metropolitan area during this period.
Carrying or using firearms, swords, spears, daggers, sticks, explosives, bricks, or stones. Flying drones without prior permission, as per the 'Drone Registration and Flight Policy-2020'. Displaying objects or placards deemed a threat to state security.
The CMP issued these directives under Section 29 of the Chittagong Metropolitan Police Ordinance, 1978. The notification explicitly warned that any individual found violating these orders will face immediate legal action.
Heavy police deployment is expected around the Polo Ground and entry points to the city to facilitate the peaceful conduct of the political gathering.
