BNP leaders in Chattogram held a high-level joint meeting on Monday night to finalize preparations for Chairman Tarique Rahman’s upcoming visit, his first to the port city in nearly 21 years.
The meeting, held at the Mehedibagh residence of BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, included the party’s nominated candidates for various Chittagong constituencies and top-tier organizers.
Amir Khasru announced that Tarique Rahman is scheduled to arrive in Chittagong on the night of January 24. He will address a grand election rally at the historic Railway Polo Ground at 11:00 am on January 25.
"The people of Chattogram have been waiting for over two decades for this moment," Khasru said. "The enthusiasm we are seeing across the country since his return to Bangladesh is now a massive wave in Chattogram. This will be more than a political rally; it will be a gathering of people from all walks of life."
The last time Tarique Rahman visited Chattogram was on May 6, 2005. Senior leaders, including City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain and candidates from across the district, emphasized that the entire region is united and eager to welcome the Chairman. The party has called for a festive and peaceful atmosphere to mark the historic occasion
