A fertilizer dealer has been fined and the illegal fertilizers seized for illegally storing fertilizer in a godown in Kazipur, Sirajganj. The operation was conducted on the east side of the Gandhail Union Parishad in the upazila on Wednesday (December 31) evening. Kazipur Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the matter.

He said that 46 bags of urea fertilizer illegally stored in violation of the rules were seized during an inspection of the godown of BCIC fertilizer dealer Rezaul Karim Ranjur. Later, the fertilizer was immediately sold at auction for 61,180 taka at the government price and the fertilizer dealer was fined 10,000 taka in cash. He also said that dealer Rezaul Karim Ranjur has been released after giving a bond not to commit such crimes in the future.

Kazipur Upazila Agriculture Officer, agricultural expert Shariful Islam was present at the time.
