Businessmen in Nalchiti mourn Khaleda Zia's death, businesses closed

The government has declared a three-day state mourning from Wednesday, December 31, following the death of BNP Chairperson and former three-time Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

People from all walks of life in Nalchiti, Jhalakati district, are deeply saddened by the death of this uncompromising national leader. In continuation of this, local businessmen in Nalchiti municipality observed mourning by closing all types of shops and businesses in the city (except for three drug stores in the city) from 2 pm to 6 pm on Tuesday, December 30. The businessmen announced the mourning by using microphones at various places in the city around 1 pm on Tuesday and informed the businessmen and the public about the mourning. As per the announcement, the businessmen have kept all businesses closed from 2 pm.

Local businessmen said that BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia was an uncompromising national leader and a true patriot. As part of expressing deep grief over her death, we have decided to close our businesses for 4 hours.

In this regard, city businessman and convener of Volunteers of Nalchiti Md. Shahadat Alam Fakir said, three-time former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia was not only the leader of BNP - she was the leader of all the people of the country. This uncompromising national leader fought against hegemony all her life. We are deeply saddened by her death along with the countrymen.

Therefore, it has been decided to close all businesses (except three drug stores in the city) on Tuesday, December 30 from 2 (two) pm to 6 (six) pm (except three drug stores in the city). And considering the urgent needs of the people, it has been decided to keep only three drug stores in the city open.
