A 5-day Jor Ijtema organized by Tabligh Jamaat Bangladesh Shurai Nejam began with a general sermon after Fajr on Friday (November 28) at the Bishwa Ijtema Maidan in Tongi. Two devotees died while attending this Jor Ijtema.

This Jor Ijtema will end with the final prayer next Tuesday (December 2). Habibullah Raihan, media coordinator of Tabligh Jamaat Bangladesh Shurai Nejam, confirmed the matter to the media.

He said that this Jor is held every year as a preparation for the Ijtema. Here, the Tabligh companions present their work for the entire year and get the opportunity to take guidance from the elders. On this occasion, senior scholars of the Shurai Nezam from home and abroad have already gathered in Tongi.

Organizers said that those in charge of the Dawah will receive the planning and necessary guidance for the Dawah work for the entire year from this 5-day Jor.

Habibullah Raihan further said that the five-day Jor is a golden tradition of Tablighi Jamaat. It is a special arrangement to awaken the spirit of Dawah work. From here, the correct design and direction of the work for the entire year is determined. The elders present important statements on the deeds of Daa'id, Dawah, Tartib and what to do in the context of the country. Which gives direction to the management of a companion's life in this world and the hereafter.

He further said that only companions of 3 chillas and scholars who have spent at least 1 chilla can participate in the Jor Ijtema. This maintains the unique dignity and importance of the Jor.

A huge tent has been built on the north side of the ground to make the Jor Ijtema a success. Several lakhs of religious devotees have taken up residence in it. They will stay there for 5 days.

Two devotees who came to Jor Ijtema at Tongi Bishwa Ijtema Ground have died, said Habibullah Raihan, media coordinator of Tablighi Jamaat Bangladesh's Shurai Nejam.

Among the deceased devotees, Md. Nur Alam (80), son of Sultan Ahmad of Andar Char village in Noakhali Sadar upazila, died at around 4:30 am on Friday.

The name of the other deceased devotee is Chan Mia (60). He is the son of the deceased Mujibur Rahman of Bogarpar area of Sarishabari police station in Jamalpur. He suffered a stroke during Friday prayers. When his companions immediately took him to the hospital adjacent to the Ijtema ground, the doctor on duty declared him dead.
