Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated the two-day National Semiconductor Symposium and BEAR (Biotechnology, Electronics, AI and Robotics) Summit 2026 on Saturday at the Novo Theatre in Tejgaon.

The event aims to establish Bangladesh as an emerging hub for semiconductor manufacturing and deep-tech innovation. Jointly organized by the Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association (BSIA), Ministry of Science and Technology and the Silicon River Bangladesh programme. The summit carries the theme "Building Bangladesh's Semiconductor Future through Global Partnership."

The conference brings together policymakers, researchers, investors and representatives from global tech leaders including Texas Instruments, GlobalFoundries, NXP, Applied Materials and Purdue University. Discussions focus on workforce development, research promotion also manufacturing capabilities and deep-tech entrepreneurship.

Alongside 11 technical and seven strategic dialogue sessions, event features the BEAR Innovation Expo 2026, showcasing 35 stalls of student and start-up innovations in robotics, AI and health technology. The Prime Minister toured the exhibition following the opening session.

Key dignitaries addressing the session included Science and Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam, ICT Adviser Rehan Asif Asad, BSIA President M.A. Jabbar and Purdue University Professor Muhammad Mustafa Hussain delivered the keynote address.

The summit’s final day will feature the Christie Fellowship Research Symposium and unveil eight national strategic documents with Talent Roadmap 2030 and Ecosystem Roadmap to guide Bangladesh’s long-term high-tech development.
