Humayun Ahmed Film Festival Inaugurated at Tangail Coronation Dramatic Club

A fortnight-long film festival celebrating the works of legendary storyteller and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed was officially inaugurated at the historic Tangail Coronation Dramatic Club on Friday evening.

State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku MP inaugurated the event as the chief guest. Organized by the modern cine-complex The New Roshan Talkies also the opening ceremony drew local cultural enthusiasts, academics and political figures.

Among the distinguished guests were Maulana Bhashani Science and Technology University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A.B.M. Shahidul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Sanjay Kumar Mahanta and District BNP President Hasanuzzamil Shahin. The event was presided over by Coronation Dramatic Club President Kazi Zakerul Mowla with The New Roshan Talkies CEO Tanvir Hossain Prabal steering the proceedings.

The festival opened with the screening of Ahmed’s popular film Noy Nombar Bipod Sanket. Over the two-week event, 15 acclaimed films directed by or adapted from the works of Humayun Ahmed including Srabon Megher Din, Daruchini Dwip, Ghetuputra Kamala and Shyamol Chhaya will be screened for the public also honoring his lasting contribution to Bangladeshi cinema.
