The High Court has suspended an order issued by the Islamic Arabic University cancelling the governing bodies of Fazil and Kamil madrasas across Bangladesh.
A High Court bench comprising Justice Shikder Mahmudur Razi and Justice Fatema Anwar passed the order on Monday, November 2.
Earlier, on October 19, the Islamic Arabic University (IAU) cancelled the governing committees of Fazil and Kamil madrasas across the country.
The decision was announced in an office order signed by the university’s Registrar, Professor Dr A.K. Muhammad Nurul Islam.
According to the order, the cancellation was made in line with a decision taken at the university’s 43rd Syndicate meeting held on October 15.
The directive applied to the governing bodies of Fazil and Kamil madrasas operating under the Islamic Arabic University.
