Chattogram DB Police Arrest Two Armed Men, Recover Firearms in Patiya

The District Detective Branch (DB) police arrested two men and recovered a cache of firearms and sharp weapons during a targeted raid in the remote hills of Patiya Upazila.

District Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Masud Alam detailed the operation during a press conference at the Chattogram District Police Office on Saturday.

The arrestees were identified as Md. Delwar Hossain, 54 and Md. Mohsin 33, both residents of Innerpara in Kelishahar Union.

Acting on a tip-off, a DB team conducted the raid in the hostile terrain of Kelishahar Union on Friday afternoon. Following the arrests, police searched Delwar Hossain’s residence and recovered six kiriches, five ramdas, a damada, an iron cutter and two mobile phones hidden under a bed.

Subsequent interrogations led officers to a nearby orchard in Chhatibhanga Afchar, where they retrieved two single-barrel guns and two locally made light guns (LGs).

Preliminary investigations reveal the weapons were stored to carry out criminal and terrorist activities in the region.

SP Masud Alam reiterated the police force's zero-tolerance policy against illegal arms and terrorism with that intelligence surveillance and drives across remote areas will continue to apprehend accomplices and source suppliers. Legal proceedings against the suspects are underway.
