


Principal Muhammad Shamsuzzaman Helali has been finalized as the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate for Mayor in the upcoming Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) elections.
The decision was reached during a Chittagong City Jamaat Shura meeting held on Monday night (April 20). The nomination followed a consensus among city branch members.
The meeting was chaired by City Amir Nazrul Islam and moderated by Secretary Principal Nurul Amin. High-ranking leaders in attendance included Central Assistant Secretary General Muhammad Shahjahan, Assistant Secretary Morshedul Islam Chowdhury, Muhammad Ullah, and Organizing Secretary Shamsuzzaman Helali himself.
Confirming the nomination, Principal Nurul Amin stated, "Shamsuzzaman Helali has been selected based on the grassroots opinions of our urban branch members. He will represent the party in the upcoming City Corporation polls."
Helali is a veteran in local politics, having previously served as a councilor for the CCC’s Sholashar ward. He also contested the 13th National Parliament elections as a candidate for the Chittagong-10 constituency. A former teacher with a postgraduate degree, Helali is currently involved in the business sector.
