


General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Chief of Army Staff, expressed his satisfaction with the security and administrative preparations in Chattogram for the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election and the July Charter Referendum.
Speaking at a view-sharing meeting at the Chattogram Circuit House on Thursday (January 22), the Army Chief reiterated the military’s commitment to ensuring a free, fair, and peaceful environment. He instructed officials to prioritize "close coordination" between all departments to fulfill the nation's expectations for a transparent vote.
The Bangladesh Army will provide full support to civil administrations to maintain law and order throughout the election period.
Chattogram Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah provided a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the district’s logistics, administrative activities, and potential security challenges.
After reviewing the presentation, General Waker-Uz-Zaman described the current election environment in Chittagong as "positive."
The meeting was attended by high-ranking officials, including Chittagong Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Ziauddin, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Hasib Aziz, and the Range DIG. Deputy Commissioners and Police Superintendents from the three Hill Districts also participated to coordinate security for the remote regions of the division.
