China Seeks Stronger Defence Ties with Bangladesh at PLA's 99th Anniversary

The Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh hosted a reception on Wednesday to mark the 99th founding anniversary of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA). The gathering underscored a mutual desire to strengthen defense and strategic ties between Dhaka and Beijing.

Around 300 dignitaries attended the event. Key officials included Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen Defence Adviser to the Bangladesh Prime Minister Brigadier General AKM Shamsul Islam Adviser to the Prime Minister Md Ismail Zabiullah, and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan.

Addressing the reception Chinese Defence Attaché Senior Colonel Du Xinsheng emphasized Beijing's commitment to a good-neighborly policy toward Bangladesh. He stated that China is eager to deepen bilateral exchanges and defense cooperation to build a "China-Bangladesh community with a shared future". Du also noted that the PLA guided by the Communist Party of China remains dedicated to safeguarding national security while maintaining regional and global peace.

In response Defence Advisor AKM Shamsul Islam praised the PLA’s ongoing modernization and the enduring traditional friendship between the two nations. He expressed formal gratitude for China’s continuous support and assistance in advancing Bangladesh’s defense capabilities.

The reception concluded with guests expressing mutual optimism for elevating the strategic partnership between China and Bangladesh to new heights.
