Lieutenant General Md Mainur Rahman, General Officer Commanding of the Army Training and Doctrine Command (ARTDOC), stated that the law and order situation in Bangladesh will return to normalcy following the planned national election in February, enabling the Bangladesh Army's return to barracks.
The Army, "like the country's people," is expecting a free, fair, impartial, and festive election as per the government's outline. The military will extend its full assistance for the polls and is preparing in light of the polls roadmap.
Rahman expressed belief that the election will solidify stability and normalize law and order, allowing the army to go back to cantonments. A significantly high figure of 90,000 to 100,000 soldiers will be deployed nationwide during the upcoming elections.
The General assured the public of the army's integrity, loyalty, and unity, urging countrymen to ignore "false and fabricated propaganda" being spread by vested groups. The army has been deployed in the field in aid to civil power for the past 15 months, which has "hampered training activities somewhat." Rahman hopes an acceptable election will soon allow a return to regular training and modernization.
He emphasized that the Army operates under the government's direction and remains firm, professional, and committed to national service, having successfully fulfilled its responsibilities despite challenges.
