Police arrested a fugitive on Wednesday (June 10) who had previously been sentenced to five years in prison for a drug-related offense. Acting on a tip-off, officers conducted a raid in the Kotwali area of Chittagong city to apprehend him.

The convict, Md. Qutub Uddin, is a resident of the Omar Ali Market area on Ashraf Ali Road. He is the son of Alhaj Nazir Ahmed.

According to police, a court previously sentenced Qutub Uddin to five years in jail and fined him Tk 10,000 under the Narcotics Control Act in a case filed with the Baklia police station. Failure to pay the fine would result in an additional three months of simple imprisonment.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Naimur Rahman and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sohel Ahmed led the Kotwali police team during the raid.

Following the arrest, police handed Qutub Uddin over to the court after completing standard legal procedures.
