The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-6) has arrested the prime suspect in the widely discussed murder of Hasan Sardar, alias King, in Khulna’s Paikgachha upazila.
The accused Nazmul Huda Mintu apprehended in Khulna at 5:00 PM on Tuesday. According to RAB sources, intelligence teams used electronic tracking and technical surveillance to locate Mintu, who had been in hiding since the killing.
Hasan Sardar (40) was brutally attacked near the Chandkhali cattle market in Paikgachha on the afternoon of June 7. He was rescued by locals and rushed to a nearby hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. The daylight killing sparked widespread tension and panic in the area.
Following the murder, the victim’s family filed a case with the Paikgachha Police Station. The First Information Report (FIR) named 10 individuals—with Mintu listed as the principal accused—alongside 8 to 10 unidentified accomplices.
RAB officials confirmed that Mintu will be handed over to the Paikgachha Police Station following initial legal formalities. Meanwhile, joint law enforcement teams are continuing raids to apprehend the remaining absconding suspects.
Police are actively investigating the exact motive behind the killing. While various rumors are circulating locally, authorities stated that the actual cause will be confirmed once the investigation concludes and the suspects are interrogated.
