A new vocational training center officially opened in Faridpur on Tuesday to develop skilled manpower for overseas employment.
Located at the Technical Teachers Training Center (TTC) grounds, the facility will train local youth in transmission line construction and the Korean language. The center was established under the Bangladesh-Korea Transmission Line Construction Project—a collaborative initiative involving the Bangladesh Government, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and South Korea's Hanbeg Co. Ltd.
Running until 2029, the project aims to equip workers with highly specialized technical skills. Through phased skill development programs, the initiative guarantees direct employment opportunities in South Korea for 300 trainees.
Former minister and Member of Parliament Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Altaf Hossain inaugurated the center as the chief guest at 4:00 PM. Faridpur-3 MP Chowdhury Nayab Yusuf attended as a special guest. The ceremony was chaired by Zeenat Ara, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment.
Addressing the gathering, officials emphasized that the facility will significantly boost the technical efficiency of Bangladeshi youth and open sustainable, high-value avenues for foreign employment.
The event was attended by both local and international representatives, including Faridpur Superintendent of Police Md. Nazrul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner Md. Sohrab Hossain, KOICA Bangladesh Country Director Kim Ji-on, and Deputy Country Director Yang Hyeon-woo.
