Fuel distribution and marketing operations at all oil depots and major petroleum installations across Bangladesh will remain suspended on Wednesday, July 1, as the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) carries out its annual year-end stocktaking, asset valuation and physical verification.
The directive was issued in an official order signed by Ferdousi Masum Himel, General Manager of BPC's Distribution and Monitoring Division.
According to the order, the annual inventory count and verification will be conducted at all principal installations and depots operated by BPC and its subsidiary companies. As part of the process, fuel marketing and distribution activities will remain closed at Chattogram's main petroleum installation as well as all fuel depots nationwide for the day.
BPC, however, said special arrangements have been made to ensure uninterrupted aviation operations. Depots have been instructed to complete the annual verification of Jet A-1 fuel storage tanks as quickly as possible so that fuel supplies to both domestic and international airlines continue without disruption.
The corporation said the temporary suspension is necessary to ensure the accurate completion of its annual closing inventory and asset verification process.
Copies of the order have been sent to the heads of Jamuna Oil Company, Padma Oil Company, Meghna Petroleum Limited, Eastern Refinery Limited and other relevant organizations for implementation.
